write, so I took the challenge.
Molly liked to take care of people. It was the main reason how she was able to have and take care of seven children and not go insane. She was just one of those people who needs to be needed. And, with all of her children in Hogwarts or already graduated and getting to the point where they felt they no longer needed their mother, she was beginning to reach her wits’ end.
It was the main reason, in the end, that she visited with Remus Lupin as often as she could. She’d been fond of him since they first met, but always felt a certain degree of pity for him, the poor dear. And while she hadn’t thought much of Sirius, she wished he hadn’t died if only to keep the look of further sadness from Remus’s face.
Today he had agreed to come visit her at the Burrow. Arthur was off at the Ministry working, and Ron and Ginny were at Hogwarts, and the rest of her children no longer lived at home. He smiled when he sat down at her table, seeing that she had baked one of her famous pies for him. She smiled in return and let him dig in with a gusto. He went through two whole pieces before he even began to slow down. After the third piece, he leaned back with a contented sigh. “Molly, you do know how to cook,” he said.
“Thank you,” she replied cheerfully. “Don’t you feel so much better when you’re over here? You should come more often,” she added in a scolding tone.
Remus was appropriately chastised. “Yes, I know. I’ll try to come by more often.”
Molly smiled brilliantly. “I’m so glad!” she declared. She stood up, collecting the plates. But as she passed Remus, she bent down and gave him a quick kiss on his cheek. She took the plates to the sink and, with a swift wave of her wand, started them washing before she returned to the table. Remus was holding a hand up to his cheek where she’d kissed him, wide-eyed. She frowned, concerned. “Are you quite all right?” she asked.
He studied her for a long moment. Then he stood and leaned over to her. He placed a kiss on her lips. Molly was surprised for a brief moment, then returned the kiss. It didn’t last long before Remus pulled back, blushing faintly. “I’d like to be able to come here more often,” he said softly.
“Come as much as you like,” Molly invited. Then she caught him up in another kiss.
The rest of the pie ended up getting cold before they got back to it. But that was all right. Molly could always make another one. It would give Remus another excuse to come visit, if he should need an excuse.
